A cotton swab! It boosts the frame or wire–I’ve even used it to bump a curtain rod up just a tad so that it’s level. This tip is golden when adjusting the screw such a small amount would compromise the entire hole making one gigantic hole–you. know! This weekend, I pulled out my cotton swabs twice (the shame!) and I thought it was about time to share that little trick that has saved my sanity too many times.
If you haven’t guessed it from the photos above, the living room got some new art. Let’s chat about that tomorrow.
Ps. Chris is spilling about a light and fresh dessert you’re gonna want to make all summer over on his blog–so unique!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

this is brilliant!!
Great idea. I cut up 3m command Velcro strips in tiny pieces to use centre bottom of all my frames. This stops them from shifting but also allows me to fudge the levelness or alignment if I need to.
:)
This is genius. Pinning!
great idea….
Genius! No more Swiss cheese walls for me haha
Hahaha. If you could only see what is behind some of our frames.
I never thought of the cotton swab, great idea! I always use a small roll of blue tape or a tiny piece of cardboard, but those tips are probably for when you are more than a tiny smidge off level (don’t know if I should have admitted how often I am seriously off-level here!).
You’re in good company. No shame!
Clever! I’ll have to remember this for future reference!
Awesome tip!
What a great tip and I love the link to Chris’s new site as well. I can’t wait to start cooking along with him :)
Love this and need it too. We (the hubs) just hung 9 frames for a gallery wall with a laser level that I swear was not working. I checked later with my trusty tiny level and only one is what I would consider level. Each frame has two screws holding it so this solution will be perfect!!
I know the feeling! Glad this can help!
