Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

are the hoods standard size? we have a similar setup as you guys do and I am wondering if you can just buy one off ebay without doing specific measurements? also, do you have a microwave? i just haven’t noticed it anywhere…
Hoods are standard like ovens. MOST are 30″. And our microwave is actually in a cubby on the other side of the fridge.
cool!! thanks for the info. was the hood easy to install?
I have that same range hood! Amazing how different things look. But no bulbs for me either. Where did you order them from?
Hey Dee,
We didn’t want to pay the astronomical price for the ones from Sears so we bought these bulbs:

They got here today and work perfectly!
This looks fantastic!
My last two kitchens didn’t have any sort of hood at all, my current one has a microwave-hood-combo which doesn’t leave us much space but I have really come to appreciate it. Except it’s really loud so I only turn it on at crucial moments. ;)
A Chef’s kitchen! What a difference! Lemme guess…. making Stone Soup?
Love the new hood! I also forced my husband to price out new appliances with me at Lowe’s on Saturday. I really want a double oven and it’s all your fault! ;)
Oh my goodness. Total game-changer. Honestly, I can’t even count how many times we profess our love for ours.
This really upgrades the whole look! Very high end. I am so excited about this kitchen reno!
So sleek! Good choice!
Your kitchen is looking better already! Love how small changes have that effect :)
Looks awesome!!
Does the fan exhaust to outside? Or does it just filter the air? Sorry, kinda clueless about these kind of appliances :)
This one just filters the air–but It has an exhaust/duct work option. Our kitchen just isn’t set up for that. And don’t feel bad, I didn’t even realize these were considered an appliance.
Wow – so nice! I’m dreaming of the day we get an actual range hood instead of the standard microwave-over-the-stove (which does NOTHING!) But I have no where else to put the microwave right now and we actually use it… Oh well, maybe in the next house!
Hahaha. We say that all the time! “Maybe in the next house!”
Such a small change makes such a difference already! I can’t wait to see the whole kitchen come together.
