Chandelier Shopping

Our DIYed string chandelier has seen better days.  In fact, for the past several months it has been in a semi-collapsed state. For awhile, we thought about trying the whole thing again with a stronger glue (we have heard wallpaper adhesive works well for this project) but have decided to go in a different direction--which translates to shopping!

We tried visiting a few local lighting places this weekend, and they were all closed on Saturdays (weird, right?), so we rounded up our favorites from online.

One in our top three is this 5-tiered lovely from Shades of Light (although I have seen it a few different places online).  Because our ceilings are so vaulted, the stacked look will take up a lot of the empty space which is a great thing.  The downside of our ceilings being so vaulted is this chandelier doesn't hang quite low enough.  We are still working with customer service and the manufacturer to see if that can be fixed or altered.

We are also drooling over the Atelier Chandelier by Sonneman from Lumens.  The branches are all adjustable which would make for a seriously fun customizable look.  Again, it still hangs a little high for our ceiling to table height, but we are crossing our fingers we can keep it as an option.

We are also digging this two-tiered George Kovacs number.  It hangs at the right height.  Takes up enough space visually and even though the metal isn't a dark oil rubbed bronze or black, brushed nickel is the next best thing in my book.

And if we were to add honorable mentions to the list with our top three, you'd see these fixtures--that we still like but don't love for our space.

The one on the top left feels a little too industrial, the one on the top right we would like more with different bulbs (easy fix) but it might not take up enough visual space, and the bottom center one  Chris has vetoed because of the part that hangs down--haha, he isn't a fan.  Fair enough.

So that is where we stand now and by the end of the week, we hope to be standing with a new chandelier in our hands or on its way.  Feel free to chime in with your favorite!

Check out more honorable non-mentions on our lighting pin board.

  1. I like the Atelier Chandelier the most!

PS: I DIY'ed a string pendant lamp for my old condo's dining room a few years ago and I used fabric stiffener and it held up fine. Just a little tip in case you try making one again :)

The first and the last are my favorites. Very industrial-looking.

LOVING the first one. So amazing. I am sad your string ball chandelier didn't hold up! Sad! But these ones will be timeless. Excited to see what you choose!

We can be chatty, but really, really hope you'll chat right back. Feel free to share your comments, ideas, links and questions in this comments' section where we can discuss all things decor or art or paint colors or toddlerdom or anything else--together. With that said, we like to keep it clean, friendly and drama free around here. Capiche?!
