Our area rug poll has crowned a victor! Roadside Attraction got the most votes and will be hanging out in the studio with me. I was originally pulling for the Sophistikat option, but in the end--I feel good about the great texture of the Roadside Attraction carpet tiles and can't wait for them to get here. Here's how the 363 votes divided up here.
It was close, close, clooosseee. As I watched the gap between the top two choices narrow, I also kept an eye on the number of you demanding more choices. Eighteen! While I couldn't go back and add more area rugs in after the voting already started, I did listen and I doubled your lighting options. Six lights to choose from today and only one will hang in the studio. This one has got to go:

This time around, I am truly stumped--so I can't wait to see which you all vote to be our winner.

I actually strongly dislike sphere and coil armed ones. Love the way they look, but for the purpose of the room, I wouldn't pick them. I know that, at least for me, when I paint or work on a project, I don't like having a light bulb shining straight on my work. Especially for taking pictures of the completed project. A naked light will cause a shine on a lot of mediums, so I voted for one the of the shades that mutes the light bulb a bit.
ReplyDeleteDifferent artists have different opinions and preferences, but that's just what I would go for, since this is going to be an art studio. Look forward to seeing what ends up winning!
Hahahaha. C'mon!!
ReplyDeleteLove your thoughts Katherine. The steel circles one is quickly becoming my favorite!
ReplyDeleteWow. There are so many good choices. The two that caught my attention and really stood out were the Supernova & the Silver Steel Circles Sphere. However, with a colored ceiling, I feel like the room needs a white light to really lighten things up and add a 'pop'- you know. But is the Supernova a little much? Maybe. So I'm not voting. YET. I have to stew for a bit. This is serious stuff, your room. :)
ReplyDeleteI respect that! Let it stew. Let it stew. I've been thinking about these for a week and a half and I don't even know which one I am rooting for. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI like your endorsement. Very convincing! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting picks! And so different too! I liked #5 because it was modern but also timeless. You could keep it in there as a structured nursery light fixture. Love all the choices! I'm so curious how the peeps will vote!!!
ReplyDeleteO come on! CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA people!
ReplyDeleteYou're 6 ft, too?! Sisters unite! Our ceilings are standard 8ft, but the light will be over my desk.
ReplyDeleteValid points, and I've thought about each of them during while narrowing it down. The room gets so much natural light, I'm not even worried. As far as evenings, I've painted in our dining room before this and the bulb is practically bare there--and I've never been bothered by it. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Can't wait to see where we end up!
ReplyDeleteJust a random question...how tall are your ceilings? Do you have room for the larger hanging lights? Us 6' tall woman need to stick together and I don't want you having to duck in your own studio! :)
ReplyDeleteSince the eye is already going to be up with that awesome painted ceiling... a drum light fixture just wasn't doing it for me, so I picked Silver Steel Circles. Supernova was a close second.. but I wasn't loving more white.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the other commenters post about having a light that would transition into a nursery makes a valid point... but I still think SSC would be a great statement maker.. like all those cool nurseries I see on Pinterest
I also love 5 and 6 but 4 is by far my favorite!
