In the MOOD to help.

Sometimes, you just need a starting point.  You need a direction.  Every room does.  For just over a year, I have been helping friends and their referrals out with their spaces by showing them the possibilities through mood boards.  It’s been an enjoyable ride–peaking into different homes via photos and seeing the potential burst through.   And now I am opening the flood gates and accepting full-blown clients–even if we aren’t related or friends….yet ;) for cheap–because I would hate for you to break the bank before your revamp even starts.
For $45*, you can expect a whole lot.  When I make these personalized just-for-your-space mood boards, I take into consideration whether you can paint your walls, or not–or maybe you don’t want to.  I gladly consider inspiration pictures of spaces you have always loved.  I keep in mind budget, and will let you know how to DIY the same look or piece or where you may find it cheaper.  We’ll discuss layout, art, colors, textiles, furniture, lighting, paint colors and anything else I feel would bring your space to its full potential.

I believe every home has its own personality, just like every person, and I never try to make someone else’s room look just like a space I have in my home.  Although, by the end of my search and compilation, I have usually bookmarked a few items to keep in mind for our house, too.  Each hand-picked item in the mood board is numbered and comes with a (sometimes too detailed) explanation so that you feel empowered to get the room going on your own.

Do you have a room that you have been struggling with?  Do you have a hard time pulling pieces together without buying a complete set at a furniture store. Eeeks. Let me help you!  Send photos of your room in need (a few different angles helps) along with a note of what you hate, what you love, what you want to work with, and other details you would like me to know about to

To see examples of what you can expect, check out these previous reader-commissioned mood boards that we have featured right here on our blog: Jane’s, Deb’sJen’sMeagan’s, Jessie’s, Jenessa’sTanya’s.

*$45 is the price as of July 1st, 2012.  Get it while it’s cheap!

The family room and the playroom are coming out great! – thanks to your inspirational mood boards. You have found unique pieces from vendors that I hadn’t thought about looking at. You incorporated the accessories with my own furniture in such a creative way.
I can’t wait to get started on the rest of my house.
    Thank you!

Julia made a mood board for my livingroom last week and I have already been putting it together. I would have never thought of what she suggested but yet it makes so much sense. I told her we had cats so any material that is not super attractive to them (and their possible scratching) would be great. She chose two chairs that were on legs (first plus) and then the fabric was a microfiber (second plus). Not sure if she thought about this when she picked them, but they were perfect. I am saving up now for the rug and loveseat. I highly recommend purchasing a mood board. I’m so glad I did. If I hadn’t, I would have just kept spending a little money here and there trying to make the livingroom work and in the end all of the little things would have just been at goodwill within a year which equals wasted money.

You have such an eye for piecing things together. I wouldn’t have thought of any of those things together, but they all work!! Our room definitely isn’t 100%, but with the addition of our favorite picture above our bed, the side table lamps, a pop of green in our pillows and changing our pillow cases to a dark grey, it feels more put together. Someday when we can afford bedroom furniture and a huge bedroom redo in our own home one day, you’ll be the first I turn to!!!

Julia, thank you so much for creating a mood board for my living room. I’m just thrilled with what you pulled together. You chose many items that I loved instantly, and some others that push me out of my comfort zone in a good way! A lot of your ideas had never occurred to me before, so the fresh perspective is really helpful. I especially appreciate that you explained how to spread different colors throughout the room so it looks balanced and tied together. I’ve gone from being frustrated by this room to being excited for it’s potential.

I also purchased a print from your Etsy shop recently, and with that transaction and this mood board, you’ve been very prompt and professional. It’s been a pleasure working with you.

Now that my living room is done, can you do the rest of my house too? :)
