It forms a nice little “L” shape to allow for a mudroom nook, but we have basically been stuffing everything we own back there.
Coats, jackets, purses, diaper bags…
hats, yoga mats, carpet remnants from Greta’s room…
… and shoes all over the ground atop a mat that was there when we moved in and any jackets that have fallen off of the 7 hooks we are currently working with.
What. A. Mess. Â Today was the day that I decided I couldn’t take it any longer. Â I cleared all the junk out and started making a plan for the space.
We have a small closet with a rod for hanging coats in it, so I am going to move all of our coats to the closet. Â No brainer. Â Because the nook is only 30 inches wide, I think that having things hanging on both sides just makes the whole space feel claustrophobic. Â I have some simple plans to turn this space into a place where we can still hang a few things like bags and hats, store items like our yoga mats and still look organized.
First things first, it needs a fresh coat of paint on the walls and trim. Â :)
I’m dying to see how you make this look open. It makes me feel better seeing other people’s messes. Our house is a disaster, so this little “nook” made my day. :)
So I mailed your card yesterday. You should be getting it soon! Love yours. Love, love, love.
We have an awkward nook in our kitchen (I actually talk about it here) so I totally know what you’re talking out. Ours was just kind of there for a while but we finally figured out that our bookcase fits in their perfectly. It looks so much better. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with! I love seeing people’s ideas for interesting nooks :).
What a funny little nook! Kind of an awkward space just left alone. Excited to see what you decide to do!!
PS reading “11 days before Christmas” almost gave me a heart attack!
