We have been keeping all of our boxes of clothes, decorations, books and just things that we haven’t unpacked yet in that room and sadly, most of the boxes were soaked through.  We saved what we could and tossed the rest–including the carpet and carpet pad.  We were planning on tearing up the carpet in that room eventually, nothing like a little flood to put a spark under us.  Once we got the soaked carpet hauled out to the garage, we needed to tear out part of the drywall to see where the water was coming from.

We were secretly hoping that there was some sort of pipe leak because then our insurance would cover everything, but because it was raining almost every day last week, it likely isn’t a pipe issue. Meh.  Two parts of the base of the walls were the worst.  They had a ton of mold and they were on opposite walls:

Which meant we had to take off a lot of drywall.  We just stuck with cutting out the bottom of the drywall that was wet to see if we could assess where the water was coming from.

Verdict: We kinda still have no idea.  But there is clearly water coming from the window well.  In the picture above, you can see the water dripping from the window.  Argh.  So what’s next?  Hmmm.  We’ll let you know when we figure that out.
