J:”Yeesh, planes, trains, and automobiles to get home, babe!”
C:”Trains?”
J:”…hmmm.   Well, OO OO! The trains in the airports that take us to the different concourses!”
C:”Or, there were trains in the movie!”
(We watched Water for Elephants on the plane.) We didn’t get home yesterday like we expected.  In fact, the last 24 hours is a blur–but went something like this:
3 delays
A free hotel with FREE pizza for dinner
An early morning flight
A throbbing broken toe (mine)
Another flight
Damaged luggage
A lost parking stub
A pit stop at Wendy’s
A stop at work to drop Chris off
and we’re home.
And the yard looks awesome.
And this came in the mail while we were gone:
And my parents are minutes away
And I’m not showered
And my house is a mess
But it feels really good to be home.

  1. Home is wonderful. I was actually just reading a beautiful poem about it in a Garrison Keillor collection (let me know if I should send it to you). As the hubby and I were moving boxes over to our new home yesterday (will move in on Sunday!) I made a pit stop to the mail box and pulled out my new IKEA catalog. Oh, how dreamy! Definately added a little perk to the weekend, I brought it on every car ride : )

  2. Traveling is the worst. But it all seems to be ok once you walk into your home :) Glad you made it back safe and sound!

  3. Throbbing toe? Ugh I hate it when traveling goes horribly wrong, : ( And you were worried about traveling with Gretaaaaa, we’ll have to catch up Jules. Kisses to mom and dad!

  4. AHH my heart ACHES for you guys and the fiasco you had to get home. FREE PIZZA???? I bet you were THRILLED! :-) I can’t believe we never ordered a pizza while yall were here. Oh well, next time! BUT I am so happy the day went great with Greta and of course, the Ikea magazine was anxiously waiting for you. We are already saving our pennies to get out there!! xoxo Tell Goy-yay Brin has been saying her name randomly since you left. My parents laughed so hard hearing her little voice say Goy-yay over and over again!
