Where our Magic Carpet Landed

In the dining room (I didn't even drag you along in suspense).  For now, at least.  And wow, what a difference!

And in case you can't remember how this room used to look, here's where we started:

Then we painted everything a light, warm gray and DIYed a new light fixture and things looked a lot softer:

But when we added the rug, it really vamped up the space.  We also stored 2 chairs away until we need them.  I can't believe we had 6 chairs jammed into this space.  After all, we are only two people (Greta uses her highchair) and sure, we like to entertain--but it's not everyday that we have people over for dinner.  So here's a tip for you:  If you don't use ALL the chairs around your dining table every day--put some of them away and it will create a much airier and open feel.

And yes, I still have to address window treatments, but for now we are enjoying the soft little foot massage we are getting when we rub our feet across all that luxe raised texture while we are eating.  You gotta try it--meaning: don't forget to enter the giveaway to score your own.  Or just come over for dinner, I'll even pull the extra chairs out of the basement.

  1. Our living room floor is hard wood and this carpet would work beautiful.

  2. So, I have always thought a rug under dining tables LOOKED beautiful, but never seemed functional. We always had issues with the back legs of the chair getting caught on the rug. Any tips for that?

We can be chatty, but really, really hope you'll chat right back. Feel free to share your comments, ideas, links and questions in this comments' section where we can discuss all things decor or art or paint colors or toddlerdom or anything else--together. With that said, we like to keep it clean, friendly and drama free around here. Capiche?!
