We closed. We closed. We CLOSED!!! And that’s about all the excitement I can give you right now. It was pretty much an all day thing with our grant closing at 10 am this morning down in Provo and our actual closing at noon up in Salt Lake. We didn’t get back home until almost 3! Our little Greta-bug stayed with Brandon and Stephanie at their place all day which we were all grateful for because Greta isn’t digging our digs right now, with all those boxes everywhere.
We drove around Utah and signed papers all day and it was all so surreal. This second go-around has been nothing short of a blessing. We found an amazing realtor, Kristen Price. We recommend her to EVERYONE! She is so sweet and honest and hardworking and she found us our dream house and held our hand the whole time. She is a blessing, along with our loan specialist, Adam Campbell at Academy Mortgage. Shout out to those incredible people.
Taken just as we finished signing the closing papers |
So why anti-climatic?? Well, we won’t get the keys until tomorrow afternoon. So after lots of high fives, hugs and a couple freaking outs “We’re homeowners!” we drove home, picked up Greta and went back to our apartment. We’ll be celebrating with Papa Murphys and more packing tonight.
I don’t want to end such a happy and historical post with a downer like packing–luckily some other exciting news has entered my life and it starts with a b…. Is tricking you into thinking we’re having another baby getting old? Maybe. This “b” stands for Behr. The paint company. I was contacted out of the blue yesterday about being an online consultant for them. I eagerly agreed. I love all-things paint colors and home improvement so I was nothing short of giddy when the offer came. I have already jumped in and feel right in my element. Can I get an air-five?!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.
SHop all

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
