The Mane Issue

I am not one of those people that gets embarrassed if someone catches me and my ‘do right after waking up–the problem arises when I am spotted with freshly washed and dried hair.  Yikes.  It was weeks after we were married before I let Chris see the beast (my hair) untamed. And now that I feel like we know each other a little better, here she is:
It might bite.
What a mess.  My hair is naturally curly, which is nice–don’t get me wrong.  Except DO get me wrong after one day.  Day 2 is a complete frizz-fest, which means I have to wash it again, which I don’t like to do.  I am a 2-3 washes/week kinda girl.  Is there a mom that isn’t–I’d love to meet you wonder woman.
Honestly, what did people do before straighteners?  Well, actually I was one of those people until I was a senior (maybe a junior) in high school, I think.  I remember putting a lot of serum in my hair after drying it and trying to flatten it down.  It then looked like greasy frizz–which is WAY worse than regular, plain frizz.  And then sometimes my mom would use a really large curling iron, which got some of the kinks out–but looking back, it was definitely still a mess, even though I felt like it looked awesome.  Eventually, my sister, Victoria, showed me how to put mousse in my hair and I discovered my hair was not naturally frizzy, but curly.  That saved me, seriously.  I still can’t get my hair to look the same every day (as mentioned here), but I cling to my Chi and most days, I make it through just fine.
I love you CHI

I doubt I am the only one with a hairy secret.  Anyone else hiding behind a straightener or favorite product?  Don’t make me do this alone, people.

(If you haven’t entered to win the mini, faux sheepskin, you can do that here.)

  1. Kari,

It IS a robe! It was one of my companion’s from my mission and she gave it to me—or I took it, can’t remember. :) I am not sure where she got it, but the brand is “secret treasures” which I think Walmart use to sell back in the day. Good luck!

  2. You are so pretty! Also, I hear ya about the unruly mane. I pretty much introduced my fiancé to it (untamed mane) early on in our relationship. Thought I’d “rip it off like a band-aid” and get the introduction over with, so to speak. My beau didn’t believe me until he saw it for himself, but I have permanent 80s metal hair. What would we do without our mighty flatirons?!

  3. YOU ARE GOOOOOOOOOOOORGEOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

And seriously…you are SO glam in that robe!!!!!!!! I need one. If anything, it might add a bit more spice in my life when I look like a scary mommy :-)

I always wonder about those girls who are glam 24/7 and you KNOW that they are SO scary looking #1 with no make up on and #2 if they have way wacky hair. I realllllly feel bad for their new husbands when they see them for the first time…YIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT really, it makes me laugh inside!!!

  5. OK odd question, but is that a robe you are wearing? If it is I want one and have been having a hard time finding one, where did you get it?
